Photo of Justin MatelyJustin Matley is the owner of Matley Productions, Managing Director at Rain Music Group, and most often, an Audio Engineer at Sound Lounge, New York's top commercial post production studio where he has worked extensively in commercials, films, and music. He is also a contributing writer for Rain Recording Online and Recording Magazine. Previously, Justin worked in the Creative Services departments at MSNBC and the NBC Agency, and as a mixer/sound designer at CBS-2 New York.

As a mixer and sound designer, Justin has worked on ADTech, ANDY, EMMY, and several festival winning projects. He also won a Telly award for his sound design and mix on the multi-award winning film "Last Chance" starring the late Academy Award nominee Roy Scheider in one of his final performances.

As a producer, Justin frequently records and produces records of all genres from new age to classical to folk to rock, most recently the upcoming solo effort from former Atlantic recording artist Kevin Jacoby. He also works with marketing and corporate clients to manage multi-tiered audio and video projects that require everything from music and sound, to script writing, production, editing, and mass release.

As a composer, he gained notoriety with his piece "Loom Textures for Percussion, Piano, and Voice", a musical interplay of Kerouacian Beat literature, industrial textile loom weaving, and acoustical physics. When premiered, it was hailed as "rambunctiously fresh and original... evoking the history of a place and the spirit of a writer" (Holiday, 2004) and "a melodious musical score" (Lowell Sun, 2004). Formerly a teacher, Justin is a frequent guest lecturer on topics relating to unconventional composition and audio, and has published over a dozen articles and essays. Click here to read a few.

Justin has been a musician for over two decades, including a season as a percussionist with the New England Philharmonic Orchestra, and still occasionally puts his music degree to use performing with friends. He enjoys volunteering for the National Stuttering Association and Our Time Theatre, part of the stuttering community of which he is a life member. In his off time, Justin spends most of his winters skiing and summers obsessing over the Red Sox.
